"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there. When the soul lies down in that grass the world is too full to talk about." ~Rumi
Spiritual Direction
Spiritual Direction is a very old practice where a trained guide accompanies another who may welcome a companion to help them listen to their lives. Whether it be a matter of struggle, grief, discernment, or discerning next steps, a Spiritual Director offers guidance by way of listening, asking questions, and making gentle observations. It's a practice where the spiritual director and directee "walk together." It's also a practice where there are always "three present": the directee, the spiritual director and God. (or the directee's experience of a Divine Presence.)
When it comes to the difference between Counseling and Spiritual Direction, faithlead.org offers this helpful explanation:"A therapist examines a spot on a leaf or
a broken branch (emotionally and mentally ) and works with you on how to heal those parts, while a spiritual director focuses on the wind blowing through the leaves and branches (God moving in each aspect of your life, including those broken places)." September 1, 2020
Leslee Wray, Serving Tree's founder, was certified as a Spiritual Director in 2017 with The Charlotte Spirituality Center, an Ignatian based program. It's her practice to begin with a free introductory conversation to see if spiritual direction is something one would like to explore.
Leslee can meet both in person and virtually.
Should you like to proceed with Spiritual Direction with Leslee, she charges $25 a session. However, there is also scholarship money available should the $25 be a financial concern. Please don't hesitate to contact Leslee at: 704-984-0066 for an introductory conversation.
If Spiritual Direction is something you're seeking or have a curiosity about, Leslee welcomes the privilege to connect and walk with you, if so desired. You may contact her best at 704-984-0066.
